Frequently Asked Questions
Does insurance cover therapy?
Currently, our therapists will work with you to receive reimbursement from your out-of-network insurance plan. In order to receive this service, you need to check with your insurance carrier to see if you have "out of network behavioral health benefits."
How much does therapy cost?
Rates for individual therapy is $195 for a 50-minute session, and $225 for a 50-minute couples counseling session. I will work with you to receive out of network reimbursement from your insurance company if available. Reimbursement for therapy can vary from 40 - 80 % of your fee. I do offer some sliding scale depending on circumstances and availability.
How often can I go?
Typically, most clients attend therapy once a week as commitment and consistency are the key to behavioral and emotional change. Generally, I ask people if they are ready to commit to at least 6 months of therapy depending on your goals. However, there are other circumstances that may merit different frequency and duration of treatment which would be discussed in your initial phone consultation.
Is psychotherapy confidential?
Yes. Therapy is protected health information, and is confidential. The only limits to confidentiality is if a client is deemed a harm to oneself, others, or there is suspected child abuse or neglect. All efforts are taken to protect client confidentiality
What is the difference between psychiatry and psychotherapy?
Psychiatrists prescribe psychotropic medications, whereas psychotherapists do not. If you are interested in psychiatry, I can provide you with referrals to psychiatric providers.
Do you have evening hours?
Yes, I have various practice hours available in my current practice. Please me to inquire about availability.
